Manaaki Manawa researchers Associate Professor Katrina Poppe and Professor Robert Doughty have been awarded a prestigious Health Research Council (HRC) grant to explore how artificial intelligence can support the medical management of people living with heart failure.
This 12-month project, hosted by the University of Auckland, aims to develop an AI-powered clinical support tool that can access and interpret patient data such as heart scans, lab results, and discharge summaries in alignment with current clinical guidelines. The goal is to streamline decision-making, reduce administrative burden, and improve consistency in care for heart failure patients.
This initiative reflects Manaaki Manawa’s commitment to advancing cardiovascular research through innovation and collaboration.
